More Yosemite Pictures

Here are more pictures of the trip. . .

Vacation to Yosemite

Just back from a trip to Yosemite National Park. We had never been there and had heard how beautiful it is. The rumors were true! The falls and meadows and rock formations were so breathtaking! We really enjoyed our time there. The mosquitos were out in force and temps up in the 100's, and tons of people, but it was still worth dealing with all of those things. On the way back we stopped in Solvang for a night and enjoyed the danishes and Swedish pancakes for breakfast. Wish our trip could have been longer, but it was a blessing to get away even for a few days.

Summer Begins . . .

Summer is just getting started and I hope it goes by s-l-o-w-l-y so I can recoup before it all starts up again. I found out that I will be switching grade levels once again--to 4th this time. This grade will probably be a better fit for me, but it does mean starting all over from scratch again. The Lord wants to keep me flexible and trusting Him!

Here are a few recent pictures. Denny with his Father's Day cookie bouquet from Lisa & Matt, Liam playing in the park, and Emma's first two teeth! We are planning to go to Yosemite for a few days the end of June, so will probably have more pictures to post soon. . .

David Graduates!!

David has finished high school! Where has the time gone? He has been so diligent in his studies, pulling top grades in anatomy and physiology--his passion. His plans for now are to go to Crafton Hills to get started and then transfer to a university for a B.S. in some area of science. He hopes to go to medical school after that. To give him experience in the field, he is currently volunteering in the LLUMC emergency room and is checking into a shadowing program. We are so proud of you , David! Your hard work and dedication will pay off as you seek to use the gifts God has given you to bless others!

Making Up For Lost Blogs . . .

You'll find it hard to believe that I have 2 blogs in one day when I haven't done one since last summer! Just wanted to add a few more pics. David went to his senior prom last night so here is a picture of the handsome young man ready to go. We went out this morning for Mother's Day breakfast at the Kopper Kettle (again) with my mom and Christy and my brother Larry. Also, we took a 4 generation picture for Emma's baby album!

Eveland Events

We were so blessed during the month of April to have Lisa, Matt, and baby Emma stay with us before they left for 4 years of duty in Belgium. We so enjoyed their company and they left a big hole in our hearts when they left. . . It was so wonderful to get to know Emma in all of her cuteness. We will certainly miss being able to see her personally go through all the stages of infant to toddler to preschooler. Hopefully, we will be able to see them on Skype and also take a trip to Belgium as well. Even our dog Dottie began wailing when her new-found friend Casey had to leave. . .God has a plan for their lives and we know they are being tenderly cared for by Him.

San Diego Trip

Mini Vacation

We took a quick trip to San Diego for the weekend just so we could claim we had a vacation this summer! Because of all of our surgeries, we haven't gotten away from home in over a year. We went to the North Island Naval Air Station's Navy Lodge on Coronado beach. It was awesome! So peaceful and beautiful. Just relaxed for the most part. We did check out Luigi's Pizzeria that we saw on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives a while ago. Great New York style pizza. We will definitely go there again. Now it is back to work and the starting of school. . . relaxing is over for awhile!

30th Anniversary

Can you believe it has been 30 years?!?! Denny and I celebrated our 30th anniversary today. How could it be 30 years when we are still so young (guess I am using a walker--maybe it has been a long time!)

Denny was so thoughtful. He realized that it wasn't going to work for me to be able to go out and celebrate so he brought it to me! He had a co-worker cater an awesome dinner with all the trimmings. She decorated the table and cooked a gourmet dinner, including a wonderful cake! It was so nice to eat an elegant dinner by candlelight at home! Thanks, Denny, you're the best!!

No Pain, No Gain

It's been too long since I updated the blog. I had my knee replacement surgery on June 12 and have been working hard to get it moving and healing! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for my speedy recovery. I have PT twice a week and spend 6-8 hours a day on a CPM machine that keeps it moving. Be glad you're not me--I am getting so bored with this routine!!! I see the improvement and am hoping that in another couple of weeks I may be able to drive and get out again. Denny and the kids have been helping me out tremendously--couldn't do it without their love and care!

The kids took Denny out for breakfast on Father's Day and then David spent the rest of the day putting his new gas grill together. He is good with following the instruction manual so he was the best person for the job.

Under the Knife Again. . .

David and I have surgery dates scheduled. I am getting my knee replacement on June 5th. It will mean a 3-5 day hospital stay. David is having both jaws cut and repositioned on July 10th. He will be in the hospital for 1-2 days. Luckily, they don't wire the jaw shut anymore, just use rubberbands to hold it stable. He will be eating mashed potato consistency food for about 6 weeks though. Better invest in a heavy duty blender! Your prayers for a speedy recovery for both of us are greatly appreciated.

Mother's Day and more. . .

I was blessed to have a nice Mother's Day. We met up with my mom & Ted, Larry & Darla, Christy & Liam (Deron had to work), at the Kopper Kettle Kafe for a delicious breakfast buffet. Afterwards, Britt and I went out to Ontario Mills and did a little shopping. I got 2 new pairs of sneakers to pamper my feet at the New Balance factory outlet store. When my foot and knee cried out for mercy, we had to call it quits.
David had his prom this weekend. They went up to the top of the mountain on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. He had a great time and looked awesome in his tux.
This week I visit the orthopaedic doc to get my surgery date for the knee replacement--can't be soon enough! I hate not being able to shop as long as I want to.
